CORE COURSE (By Interview Only)

The Core Course is held in a studio environment where the actor is empowered through exercises and on-camera scene work guided by a working director. Builds the actor's confidence working in front of a camera through heavy emphasis on the fundamentals. The last class is spent with a NY casting director.

PRIVATE COURSE (By Audition Only)

The only film acting course in NYC where you walk away with finished footage of one scene for your Demo Reel!! A mixture of work in the studio and on-set, all guided by Director Alex Portugal. Scenes are shot on location with a full crew. The material is always original and always challenging.

Shortly after the course ends, you receive your edited and scored scene that looks like it was clipped from your latest indie movie!

RETURN COURSE (Returning Students Only)

Designed to build on the work completed in the Private Course and keep the momentum going. Each actor will perform in one scene of original material written specifically for them. With only one scene shot per evening, each actor will have the opportunity to explore the work on an even deeper level.

WATCH, LISTEN & LEARN (By Interview Only)

This course is designed for the person that is very, very interested in the world of filmmaking and acting. Watch and learn by attending the Private Course. Be on set, watch the very monitors that film directors watch, witness the actors in action as they create their characters and see it all come together.

Attend the 7 week Private Course.
Participate as an extra in a scene. (Optional)
Be a part of the invitation only screening event and see the finished scenes.
Keep the DVD copy of the scene you performed in!

SHADOW DIRECTOR PROGRAM
(By Interview Only)

For the aspiring director who knows that the best way to learn is by working on set as the right hand of a professional director. Shadow professional film director Alex Portugal and get direct access to knowledge only gained through years of experience.

Learn what works in communicating with actors.
Gain knowledge of all aspects of the craft of filmmaking.
Take the lead on one scene (Return Course only).
Have a blast!

The best thing an actor can hope for in a coach is one who really "gets them." Every actor has their own process, and specific things they need to work on; the coach who can adapt to each actor individually and point out their specific needs is the golden ticket to becoming a better actor fast. Alex is just that.
